POSITION TITLE: Financial Consultants

POSITION OVERVIEW: Morris Interactive is seeking out 1 or more financial consultants to serve a range of needs for our growing First Nations and Métis client base.  The Consultant(s), are responsible for managing gaps and supporting the financial health of our clients by managing and overseeing records, ensuring that bookkeeping entries are correct, providing guidance on accounting and software systems, and completing Indigenous Services Canada reports in a team environment. This work would involve both finance projects to broader organizational projects. Senior Consultants will  provide strategic financial guidance, ensuring regulatory compliance, and optimizing financial operations to support organizational objectives. The Finance Consultants collaborates closely with  Senior Finance Consultants and other Morris Interactive teammates to ensure clients are served and the ongoing deliverables are met.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Financial Planning and Analysis:

  • Contribute to managing annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans.  
  • Analyze financial performance and provide actionable insights to support strategic decisions through direction.  
  • Monitor key financial metrics as identified by the client and Senior Finance Consultant, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions.

Reporting and Compliance:

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements through the proper administration of the accounting software.
  • Ensure compliance ISC reporting is prepared, submitted and compliant as per client direction and ISC Standards.
  • Prepare appropriate reports for leadership and management meetings.  
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of tax filings and other regulatory reports as per direction of the Senior Finance Consultants.

Departmental Support:

  • Provide departmental oversight and leadership support in the absence of senior finance roles.
  • Support the day-to-day operations of finance departments, including transactional and administrative functions, as needed.
  • Assist with the preparation and coordination of year-end audit requirements.
  • Contribute to both routine financial operations and strategic finance functions.

Cost Management and Optimization:

  • Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiency without compromising quality.
  • Monitor expenditures and ensure alignment with approved budgets.
  • Support initiatives to enhance cash flow management and operational cost control.

Strategic Leadership Support:

  • Provide financial guidance and recommendations to senior leadership and stakeholders as per the direction of the Senior Finance Consultant.
  • Contribute to strategic planning processes by identifying financial risks and opportunities for efficiencies.
  • Collaborate with department heads to align financial goals with organizational priorities.

Technology and Systems:

  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of financial systems and tools.
  • Ensure data accuracy and security in all financial systems and processes.
  • Explore and recommend technology solutions to streamline financial operations.

Special Projects:

  • Lead or contribute to special projects, such as mergers, acquisitions, or major capital investments.
  • Conduct financial analysis for proposed projects or initiatives to determine feasibility and ROI.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

  • Financial acumen, an d ability to implement strategies through direction from the Senior Finance Consultant
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external stakeholders
  • Detail oriented with a commitment to accuracy and integrity

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or diploma in a relevant field such Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related experience.
  • 3-5 years experience in financial management, planning, and analysis
  • Strong understanding of financial regulations, reporting standards, and compliance requirements
