Tanis Shanks is a registered social workerwith over 15 years of experience specializing in parenting education, programand training development, facilitation, community development, and leadership.She has worked extensively with non-profit and community-based organizations,Tribal Councils, and First Nation communities across Canada.
Tanis brings extensive expertise in programcoordination, development, implementation, and evaluation. Her experience alsoincludes comprehensive proposal writing, conducting community needsassessments, and preparing detailed reports.
A notable highlight of her career wasserving as a First Nations Prevention Director, where she provided strategicleadership for prevention initiatives, First Nations Representative services,and post-majority support programs. This role was both professionallychallenging and deeply rewarding.
She is also a certified Nobody’s PerfectParenting Trainer and has contributed to national conversations on fatherinvolvement, serving on the organizing committee for the first Dads CentralCanada Father Involvement Conference held in Winnipeg (2017) and again inOttawa (2019). Additionally, Tanis has shared her knowledge as a sessionallecturer with the University of Regina’s Faculty of Social Work in Saskatoon.
Tanis holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) inIndigenous Studies from the University of Saskatchewan, as well as both aBachelor and Master of Social Work from the University of Regina – SaskatoonCampus.
Outside of her professional life, Tanisenjoys fitness and Pilates, crafting, warm weather, and travel. She is marriedand the proud mom of three grown children.
